As the weeks go by I feel like a veil is being lifted from my eyes. I have been eating healthy and exercising for 5 weeks and I feel like I'm being cleansed of toxins. This week specifically was much easier than week 4 (except for the double birthday party, which really wasn't THAT bad, but seriously I put it behind me immediately and got back on track). Cravings were easier to deal with, I have fresh fruit in the house ALWAYS, salad prepared in the fridge ready to grab with any meal and even started thinking about food in regards to what it will actually do for me when I eat it. That's a big AHA moment (ode to Oprah) right there. I NEVER in all my years ever thought about food so specifically as to what effect or impact certain ingredients would have on my body. This is an area I'm getting pretty pumped about. I started listening to Jillian Michael's podcast and I'm finally ready to absorb information about the food I'm eating. Example: Your body needs potassium to help release salt in your body. Now we know there is way too much salt in our food, so don't add any to season. JM says use a multitude of other seasonings to flavor your food. And by eating a banana at breakfast you are helping your body work on releasing the salt. Wow!
I'm sure I'll be adding more learned factoids to my blogs as time passes, but for this particular post I'm supposed to be giving an update on my weight loss. OKAY!
Week 5 I lost another 3 pounds! After just 5 weeks I have lost 15 pounds. Not sure if I have the words to expression how amazing this feat is for me. I'm now back to what I weighed two years ago, and that was just briefly. My next goal is to lose another 20 pounds and get my weight down to what I was before I had my daughter 7 years ago.
I never got to blog about the two sisters that made it all the way to the end of the 'Biggest Loser' reality TV show. If you need some inspiration please watch it on hulu.com. Unbelievable story and incredibly inspiring.
This week I'm setting a challenge to all followers. Make 1 change this week in what you are eating. Just one. Measure out a real portion of a snack, read a nutrition facts label or ingredients, reach for an apple instead of a cookie, have whole wheat pasta or bread as a change. Have an AHA! Moment about the food you eat and then comment on the blog and tell me. Good luck!
Great job Sister! So proud of you for all your hard work. Keep it up! And P.S. I just bought a ton of whole wheat pasta at BJs last night. A first for me!
